Captive washer or star lock washer I think.

Push nut.

You could use an internal tooth star washer (“shakeproof” washer) as a push nut, but it wouldn’t work out very well. Captive washers work similarly but aren’t for holding anything on but themselves.

Guess I didn’t know what they were called either. But now that I’ve heard it, I have heard of push nut before.

The other guys are correct with it being a pushnut. The company Palnut® make both the pushnuts and threaded stamped steel fasteners. With a simple search you can find a list from them with available sizes. Back in my college years we had a table in the back of a drafting or engineering book that had common fasteners and manufacturers info. I still have that one in my garage because it had so much good info. One of two textbooks I never sold.

Pain in the ass is what I call them. The wheel on my yard debris bin is now held on by a hose clamp and a zip ties because I can’t find a new one that fits.

More like a numbnut.

I call ‘em that too. But there’s a hole in the axle, so I’m going to use washers and a cotter pin.

Numb nut, more like. Thanks.
